3D Printing Services for Salford

Props, prototypes and production parts, roughly sixteen miles away.

Salford has a production industry in both senses of the word, and they both generate print work. Broadcast and film need one convincing object by Thursday; the industrial side needs three hundred identical ones by the end of the month. Roughly sixteen miles from us covers either.

What we print for Salford

MediaCityUK turned Salford into a broadcast and production centre, and the businesses that grew around it — set builders, prop makers, event production, agencies — work to deadlines that make traditional manufacturing useless. Alongside that sits Salford Quays and the older industrial base along the ship canal, doing very different work at a very different pace.

Everything is printed at our workshop in Wigan, roughly 16 miles away, and sent out by courier. Delivery cost and timing are confirmed with your quote rather than assumed, because it depends on the size and fragility of the finished item.

3D printing in Salford — your questions

Can you print props and set pieces?

Yes, within the limits of the process. Pieces larger than our build envelope are printed in sections and assembled by us, and we can sand, prime and paint where a piece needs to look like something other than printed plastic. Tell us what it has to read as on camera and we will advise on finish.

How do you handle multi-colour work?

We print up to eight colours into a single part, so logos and colour blocking are part of the object rather than paint on its surface. That matters for anything handled repeatedly, because there is no painted layer to chip off at the edges.

Can you work to a broadcast deadline?

Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly at enquiry rather than at the eleventh hour. Give us the date and the part and you will get a straight answer about whether it is achievable — a definite no on Monday is more use to you than a maybe on Friday.
